Step Away From the Mirror
God’s grace is a wonderful, magnificent thing. It is something that is so amazing, yet we can’t fully grasp. And it is often something that we long to cling to for ourselves, but aren’t so readily to share it with others.
Each of us is in need of this amazing grace, but we can become so blind to the reality of this when we stand in the mirror too long gazing upon our own reflection. Yes, we do have an incredible need of God’s grace in our own lives. We have hurts. We have sins. We have failure and shortcomings that can only be redeemed and restored by the grace of God. But those that are around us are in just as desperate need of that grace as we are. Who are we to deny anyone of this grace?
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13
Somewhere along the path, we lose sight of how much grace God has poured out upon us. When we do this, it causes our vision to become blurry, and we fail to see how God’s grace can work in the lives of other people. We must not forget how much grace we have been given, so that we may show that same grace to the people around us. If we are to truly be the very expression of Christ in this world, then we must not hold grace as something that was made just for us. Instead, we must hold grace as something that is made for all people. Christ denied grace to no one. He instead, poured it out for everyone.
My challenge to all of us today (and everyday) is to step away from the mirror and begin to see the need for grace for all people. We are all NEVER BEYOND grace!
Grace and Peace
